# Create a new entity

> Create a new entity in Zuora by configuring custom fields and setting up invoice numbering.

Create a new entity in Zuora by configuring custom fields and setting up invoice numbering.

An entity is a unit that has its own invoice numbering. After you add the custom fields in Zuora, you can add the picklist values as new entities in the app.

In the **Entity Setup** tab of the home page, click **+New Entity** and complete the configuration for the entity.

      * **All Invoices (recommended)** - Numbers all invoices.
      * **Positive Invoices** - Numbers only invoices with a balance equal to or greater than 0. Contact your Engagement Manager

      * **Negative Invoices** - Numbers only invoices with a negative balance. Contact your Engagement Manager or

        [Zuora Global Support](https://support.zuora.com/) if you have questions.

Click **Create** to create a new entity using the specified configuration.
