# Configure Approval controls

Open Zuora AI in Full Screen Mode.

In the left navigation, select **Controls**.

Click **Create**.

Select **Approval** as the **Type**.

In **Name**, enter a name for the control.

From **Status**, select a status.

A control with the status **Draft** is saved but not enforced.

Select an **Effective Start Date** and an **Effective End Date**.

In **Description**, enter a summary of what the control governs.

In **Approvers**, select the users who approve requests from this control.

In **Trigger Prompt**, enter the condition that requires approval.

For example: `Require approval when creating bill runs.`

In **Payload Template**, enter the message that approvers receive.

Click **Create**.

The control appears in the controls list with the status you selected.
