Experience Builder project contents

Experience Builder projects organize pages, components, styles, assets, and related resources into a shared workspace for designing, testing, and managing digital experiences.

An Experience Builder project is a comprehensive workspace that contains all the building blocks needed to create and manage experiences, from pages and components to reusable styles and assets.

Pages and components

Pages and components are core building blocks in an Experience Builder project. Pages define user-facing routes and screens, while components provide reusable UI elements that can be used across multiple experiences.

Reusing components helps maintain consistency and reduce duplication within a project.

Reusable styles and assets

Projects can also include reusable styles and shared assets. Reusable styles help standardize visual design across experiences, while assets such as images and icons support page and component composition.

Using shared styles and assets helps maintain a consistent look and feel while reducing repetitive configuration work.

Branches, experiments, and global variants

Branches provide independent streams of work within a project. Teams can develop changes separately before incorporating them into the main project.

Projects can also include experiments and global variants. Experiments support optimization scenarios such as A/B testing and scheduled content changes, while global variants can be used to control how experiences appear in different contexts, such as locale or other conditional states.

Optional design workspace concepts

Projects can optionally include design workspace concepts such as arenas and artboards. Arenas act as workspace canvases, and artboards provide editable surfaces within an arena.

All arenas within the same project share the same components and reusable styles.

Sharing, permissions, and organization

Projects are the unit of sharing and permissions. They are organized into workspaces, which sit under organizations.

This structure helps teams manage collaboration at multiple levels:

  • Organization for top-level people, settings, and resources
  • Workspace for team-level collaboration and project management
  • Project for experience-specific assets, settings, and permissions

Projects in the authoring workflow

Projects provide a shared workspace where teams can create and manage pages, components, styles, assets, and other experience resources.

Depending on their role, users can contribute to project content, design, configuration, and development activities.
